Last week was one of the most amazing in my life! It was jam packed and non-stop (I love being busy!) but most of all an amazing mix of work and play! (work hard, play hard right?!)

So I went to Florida. I have never been before so I HAD to do Disney. My friends Frankie and Saskia joined me. It was a 1st for all three of us. The day was filled with Ooos and Ahhs and many OMG screams!! It was indeed magical… The princesses, the castle and magical light parade! Every building and ride was SO detailed it blew my breath away. Definitely going back there soon!

Then I was off to Playlist Live in Orando. It’s a youtube conference, which meant meeting with many amazing and talented youtubers and learning lots of new tips and tricks on how to navigate through this virtual world.

Afterwards I went to Nashville for a week. Hands down. I love Nashville. The people, the music, the weather (much warmer than Canada for this time of year!) My days were spent songwriting and evenings were spent listening to established songwriters perform their hit songs live! Talk about inspiring! One of the coolest things: writing with Jimmy Rankin.. I can remember singing The Rankin Family’s Fare Thee Well Love in choir many, many years ago and never would have thought one day I would be writing with him! He’s such a wonderful person and amazingly talented writer/performer.

Last but not least I made my way back to Canada for the JUNO’S (for those of you not familiar, they are the like the Canadian Grammy’s). Anthony Carone who plays guitar/piano with me a lot in my youtube videos also plays in the Canadian band ARKELLS and to the bands surprise they took home Group of the Year !!! Quite a feat considering they were in a category with Nickelback, Down With Webster and Hedley! I was so happy and proud! They work so hard and I gotta say, they are all just really nice, down-to-earth guys! Well deserved. Congrats Guys!!

I spent last weekend in the beautiful province of Saskatchewan to part take in the 36th annual Kinsmen Telemiracle (A 20 hour telethon broadcast LIVE on CTV Saskatchewan). I left feeling humbled, grateful and a little bit.. well, exhausted lol but most of all completely inspired and in awe of the generosity of the people of Saskatchewan!!

Let me say first- $5,906,229 was raised!!! That’s right $5,906,229! All that money raised will be used to buy special needs equipment and access to medical assistance to Saskatchewan residents, groups and health foundations to improve quality of life and independence. A mouthful, but in a nutshell a great cause! It was a crazy weekend with huge learning curves for me. My first live TV performances, PR appearances and even hosting part of the 20 hour long telethon into the wee hours of the night!

I had a chance to see and meet people who’s lives have been changed through funding from previous TeleMiracle’s, allowing me to see just how important Telemiracle is. Looking back, I know that being apart of Telemiracle has turned out to be one of the most meaningful things I have ever done. But I gotta say, it was watching the hundreds of volunteers work tirelessly and endlessly to ensure it’s success that was truly inspiring. The province of Saskatchewan really knows how to take care of it’s people and just how important giving back is. That spirit is what I take home with me and hope to spread in my own community. Thank you to the all Kinsmen and Kinette volunteers. You are beautiful people inside and out!

The Kinsmen Foundation makes miracles by providing Saskatchewan people and organizations with special needs equipment and access to medical assistance. Through Telemiracle dollars, the Kinsmen Foundation is able to gift, for example, mobility equipment, travel costs to get to medical facilities, community vans, and equipment in hospitals and health centres.
